With our DNA wellness reports, we compile the genes and variants relevant to a specific topic and give you science-based natural recommendations about how you can overcome your genetic weaknesses.
As a SelfDecode member, you will receive the Introductory DNA Wellness Report and another free report of your choice as part of your membership. Every year that you renew, you will get 2 extra reports free.
Professional plan subscribers have unlimited access to gene reports.
The Symptoms and Conditions analyzer allows you to narrow your search to genes that are the most relevant to your symptoms and health conditions.
Not all rare SNPs are bad, but some that are particularly rare can contribute to your symptoms.
Under “My Fixes”, you can find recommended supplements, diet, and lifestyle changes for each of these genes that you have rare SNPs for, along with peer-reviewed scientific references.
The substance explorer predicts potential substances (medications, vitamins, or supplements) that may benefit you based on your bad genes and SNPs. It can also reveal which substances or toxins are particularly bad for you.
You can bookmark the genes that you are interested in to explore more specific substance recommendations for each one.
View trait interpretations in 74 different health categories within 9 different packages, including:
The health categories section is a great place to get an initial overview of your genetic weaknesses and strengths.
Customize your own list of genes/SNPs or explore other members’ gene packs for rare SNPs in each category you’re interested in (such as neurotransmitters, lectin sensitivity, autoimmunity, and many more).
You can also bookmark any genes that you want to check out later in more detail.
For practitioners, you can look at gene packs of interest to your clients.
You can compare your genes/SNPs that have rare variants with another user on the
For example, if you are talking to someone on the forum, you can request to compare your genes with them!
Compared to 23andme V5 (605,000) and Ancestry (700,000), our chip contains over 900,000 SNPs that significantly influence health risks, including genes such as MTHFR, ApoE, COMT, Vitamin D Receptor (VDR), HLA variants, and many more.
This allows us to provide the most comprehensive health reports and accurately deduce actionable recommendations.
You will fully own your genetic data, having access to both your raw data and genetic insights on SelfDecode.

The world’s best genetic decoder for progressive health practitioners
Our science team scours hundreds of peer-reviewed studies each week to bring you the newest findings from the cutting edge of genetics research.
The health industry can be an unregulated minefield. That’s why we only source our information from the best, most reliable scientific journals, including Nature, Science, and The New England Journal of Medicine.
Lots of easy to understand Info. Very well presented for the Lay person.
Packed with information and tools! Links to published research, use of algorithms to help interpret importance of particular SNPs, and summary of potential fixes are unique and very helpful. Very ambitious in all that it attempts to synthesize without oversimplifying! Great job!!!
It was good, but in the few months I've had it it has continuously gotten better. Very helpful knowledge for how to approach one's shortcomings from a genetic perspective. Absolutely necessary stuff for a truly holistic approach to gaining self-knowledge. You can't do it with self-improvement work and psychologists alone.
This is simply the most comprehensive personal genomic tool that I've come across (and I've tried quite a few).
Amazing information, it's like I've been given a user manual specifically for me.
I love being able to access this information on my terms. No doctor has this detailed information.I can study and try new things and check results. Very grateful for the ability to access this information.
I've learned so much from this service that it'd be wrong to not share!
Very concise but thorough analysis on topics most doctors won't talk about although a number of studies are out there.
This is the way medicine needs to go.....power in your hands to make changes. Love it!
People ask me for information about health and supplements, I always indicate they can go here for further consideration and find links to research.
I believe that only by having DNA mapped can you begin to understand how your body reacts to everything! SelfDecode and Selfhacked are the mecca of this new science. Other sites are convoluted, tedious and expensive and put together in a piecemeal fashion, not as well researched or integrated seamlessly with personal data. To me this website is everything I could hope for, available in as much or as little as I need. Kudos to Joe! Great job!
SelfDecode is a extensive information resource that doesn't "dumb down" technical information, yet makes available information in a highly readable and comprehensive way. SelfDecode cross references in such a way that any potential inquiry can provide insights I haven't seen available anywhere else.
Joe Cohen has researched every possible mind and body health connection there is available in the universe, and has presented his findings in an easy to read format, including citations. He really knows what he is talking about and has shared his knowledge with others! Love that man. Wish regular medical doctors would follow his lead.
We support DNA data from the following test providers: 23AndMe, Ancestry, Courtagen, Family Tree, My Heritage, Atlas, Map My Genome, Diagnomics, Genes For Good, DNA.Land, Illumina, Genos (Version 1), Genos (Version 2), Living DNA, and iGene.
Alternatively, you could look into whole genome sequencing which can provide you with information on all 10 million SNPs and many other types of genetic variations.
They say genetics loads the gun, while the environment pulls the trigger. Therefore, it is important to understand your genes in the context of your diet and lifestyle.
Understanding your genetic tendencies can tell you a lot about whether your diet, lifestyle, or certain remedies, are working for or against you.
A great example of this is the Apolipoprotein E gene, which is now available as a DNA Wellness Report inside SelfDecode. Many people with brain fog carry the risk allele -- E4 -- and do better with less meat and animal products in their diet.
Whether you seek to optimize your health or overcome a pre-existing issue, getting your DNA genotyped will tell you a lot about your body and open doors to effective gene-targeted protocols.
Humans have about 10 million single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), the majority of which have no effect on health. To make genotyping affordable, DNA testing companies focus on a subset most relevant to their goals, such as for identifying ancestral lineage or for health research.
23andme tests approximately 650,000 variants, while Ancestry tests for 669,000 variants. The SelfDecode DNA kit tests about 900,000 variants. Among these, approximately 128,503 variants overlap with 23andme V5 and 70,227 with V4 [R].
The SelfDecode DNA chip will help ensure you don’t miss out on your core health SNPs. The latest version of 23andme appears to exclude several SNPs SelfDecoders are interested in.
You’re at the right place!
SelfDecode was created to help people just like you make the most of their genetic data. In the past year, we have released our DNA Wellness Reports, which shortlist your most important SNPs, explain their importance, and give gene-targeted health tips anyone can understand.

You can search for specific genes or SNPs using the search function, which can be found by clicking the magnifying glass on the right side of the navigation bar.
Your genetic information should be considered in the context of your health, your symptoms, medical history, current treatments, and lifestyle factors. If your genes suggest some low-risk health hacks or lifestyle changes to meet your health goal, it might be worth trying them. However, it is best to only make high-risk or drastic changes while being monitored by a healthcare professional. In all cases, consult your healthcare practitioner. SelfDecode is not to be used as a replacement for medical advice, treatment, or diagnosis.
Every report has a download button here, which allows you to download the report.
Recurring monthly subscriptions can be canceled at any time.
